Clips from MTV Special

In the next few weeks I will be posting clips from the LIT DVD release special that was aired on MTV not too long ago (9 clips altogether). The first clip up is Phoenix playing 'Numb' techno style, just click on the play button on the right frame. To webmasters, friends and visitors please DO NOT post a direct link to the file anywhere on the net because by doing so you're eating up and stealing my bandwidth. If you want to share the clip with others just send people over to LPTimes.com so they can see it. I like sharing stuff with others but you have to know that running a website is not cheap, we have to pay for the space and bandwidth, my site was shut down twice due to excessive bandwidth usage because people are hotlinking to the video and pictures on this site. You want to use the clip, caps and pics for your site or post on a forum board? fine! go ahead! take anything you need but please upload them to your own server. I have tons of hi-res pics from Wireimage and Film Magic that I want to share, so if you want to see those and more video clips, please don't hotlink. Thanks for your understanding.
Concert Review: M.E.N. Arena, Manchester, England
Manchester Online, 11/26/03
Although they may not have Metallica's gravitas or Limp Bizkit's charisma, Linkin Park do retain a crossover appeal which marks them out as being far more than just another bunch of skater kids.Certainly they must be doing something right, for at the M.E.N. Arena last night they had thousands of devotees hanging not just on every word, but on every gesture from bouncy frontman Chester Bennington.

On Monday the Bronfman-topped investor group led by Thomas H. Lee Partners, Bain Capital and Providence Equity Partners, formally agreed to buy Warner Music Group and Warner/Chappell music publishing for $2.6 billion from Time Warner. While the band Linkin Park continues to be Warner Bros.' most consistent sales force --- group's second album, "Meteora," has passed 3 million sold in the U.S. --- the music group's successes have come largely from a number of acts posting decent sales figures here and abroad. WMG currently has only eight albums in the top 50; Universal has 14, and BMG has 11.

LP played 'Breaking The Habit' at Smoke Out festival
posted by Jas, 11/18/03
A review of the Smoke Out festival show from Redlands Daily Facts: Without further ado came multiselling artists Linkin Park. Forget that a steady flow of rain was falling by now. It seemed those attending the SmokeOut would brave anything just to watch these guys perform. And rightfully so, because Linkin Park performed its heart out, playing hits from the band's debut "Hybrid Theory," including "Paper Cut," "Runaway," "Crawling," "In The End" and more, before moving on to hits from the latest release "Meteora," including "Numb," "Breaking the Habit" and "Somewhere I Belong." The hour-and-a-half set came to a climatic end when Cypress Hill's B-Real and Body Count's Ice-T joined Linkin Park to finish with "One Step Closer."

Review of Live In Texas
posted by Jas, 11/18/03
A brief review of Live In Texas from Chart Attack: This has to be one of the most incredibly produced efforts to date. Sometimes the sound quality is so impressive, you almost wonder if we have some pseudo-metallic lip-synching going on, but those fears subside while watching the full-blown, zillion-camera footage. It's almost enough to sucker in a jaded rock journalist. Sadly, there aren't any "surprises" on this package but it's put together so well, even moderate fans will feel they're getting the rock star treatment.

Smoke Out festival review
posted by Jas, 11/17/03
A review of the Smoke Out festival from MTV.com: "I know it's wet out there," Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda said to 21,000 soaked tokers waiting for X, "but bounce with us!" Led by the Jell-O-fingered beats of DJ Joseph Hahn, audience members, many wearing black hoodies and plastic marijuana leis, slammed their bodies to nü-metal anthems "Faint" and "Crawling" before joining the singer on a melodic, bloodthirsty "In the End." Linkin Park stirred up the crowed even more by inviting Ice-T of Body Count and surprise 4:20 artist Xzibit — who was greeted with a sea of pumping fists and X-crossed arms — onstage for some rap-metal ecstasy. It was the peak performance of a genre-smashing night that included appearances by Body Count, Obie Trice, Hatebreed, Papa Roach and Pennywise, among others.

Yahoo News reports that Linkin Park's "Numb" moves to No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart, giving Warner Bros. Records its fifth chart-topper of 2003. The label matches the record for most No. 1s on the chart in a calendar year, which it set in 1989. Linkin Park becomes the first act to post three No. 1 songs in a year on the Modern Rock chart, as "Numb" follows "Somewhere I Belong" and "Faint" to the top. All three tracks are from the band's album "Meteora." Only one other act in the history of the chart has had three consecutive No. 1s from the same album. In 1991 and 1992, U2 hit the top with "The Fly," "Mysterious Ways" and "One" from "Achtung Baby."
Big sniff of SmokeOut
San Bernadino County Sun, 11/16/03
Music was everywhere at the National Orange Show Events Center on Saturday. And for 12 hours straight. It was loud, too, and standing near the speakers of the main stage made your body vibrate. Bad Acid Trip, Body Count, DMX, Linkin Park, Cypress Hill and nine other rap bands jammed at the annual SmokeOut concert to an expected 20,000 people wearing everything from baggy jeans dropped way below the waistline to miniskirts to baseball caps tilted to the side to almost nothing at all.

It's called 'Live in Texas' and it'll be premiered simultaneously on big screens across the US on Monday night. Singers Chester and Mike reckon it's the complete package: "We never expected to take it this far, but since we've gotten here it's been a lot of fun to put this together and present it in a way that is unique and something different for people to see us in a new light." "We like the little venues, because you have the intimacy with your fans, and the big ones are great because you have the energy and volume of the big shows, and that's what you'll see in 'Live in Texas'" The DVD is out in the UK at the end of November.

Linkin Park does it all: Live, on DVD, in a theater
posted by Jas, 11/12/03
Chester talks about the shooting of 'Live In Texas'. "I kind of sparked the idea because I wanted to do something animated in the future and release it in the theater," he says. "We went from that conversation to someone coming back and saying, 'Let's do it with the DVD.' Obviously, I'm biased but I think it's really one of the coolest-looking concert films I've ever seen. I don't think I've seen a live DVD shot like this. We used real film (instead of video) and a lot of different cameras. We gave them full run to shoot whatever they wanted . . . it really captures what we try to do onstage, the amazing things we were seeing and feeling during that tour. Our goals are to be writing good records and bringing our live shows to higher theatrical and more entertaining levels," he says. Complete article at the AZ Central

Hailed as "totally awesome" by Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington, the Korean hard rock band Pia-meaning "you and I" in Chinese characters-was handpicked by the Grammy-winning American band to open their first ever concert in Korea Oct. 29. "Linkin Park's tour manager watched us play during one of our rehearsals and really thought we were good. So he brought our CD to the Linkin Park members, and they all wanted us to open for them," said Sim Z. Bennington has since become Pia's fan and asked the Pia members if they would consider touring with Linkin Park in the near future. "They really supported our performance. Chester asked us if we would be interested in future touring opportunities with them, and of course, our reply was yes," said Ok.

Double Park
Yahoo News, 11/03/03
Linkin Park's "Numb" moves 11-5 on Modern Rock Tracks, giving the group two songs within the top 10 of the chart for the second time this year, as "Faint" slips to No. 6. In the week of July 5, "Faint" and "Somewhere I Belong" were in the top 10 simultaneously. The last act to accomplish this feat was Red Hot Chili Peppers, which did it for three straight weeks in October 2002 with "By the Way" and "The Zephyr Song."
