Linkin Park Meet & Greet: The Padang, Singapore

June 22, 2004

From Andrea

So there i was... at 6am on an early morning... eating my breakfast and reading the newspaper... and then i flipped to the entertainment section... and i saw it. The big ad that took up nearly 3/4 of the newspaper page... it screamed LINKIN PARK - LIVE IN SINGAPORE - 22ND JUNE 2004!

When i saw the news i almost choked on my breakfast... this was it! My chance to catch my all time favourite band LIVE! When i got to school that day i could hardly concentrate... and then there was this part during my science lesson when my teacher noticed i was dreaming and she called me to answer a science question regarding osmosis and diffusion(bleh!) and instead i answered ''LP in singapore!'' and my teacher stared at me like i was all nuts and my class started laughing... Anyways, fastforward abit... i told my mum, and since i was in the LPU i decided to sign up for the m&g and see if i could get in... when the list came out, i was on it!i was so happy i almost fainted... that feeling was simply awesome! my mother and brother knew i was the incredibly shy type of person, so they urged me to shake their hands...

THE M&G

On the day itself i decided to meet some of the LPU people at the mrt station... then we made our way to the padang... we waited there... and waited... until we decided to join the m&g crowd... (Fast forward) - This was it... as we waited to enter the room where LP was, i felt like i was dreaming... it was so surreal... even seeing their bodyguards was surreal! i clutched my ht booklet tightly... and then i entered the room... there they were. The six guys in LP who were my saviours...these were the guys that meant everything to me...these were they guys who made music which pulled me through during my past 4 years of my life...

first up was brad... he signed my booklet... and i looked at him and i smiled at him... i was initially shy, and i was too afraid to stick my hand out and ask for a hand shake... but then i figured... who knows when will be the next time i'll get to see them? So hell to my nerves! i put out my hand, and brad shaked it... WOOOOOO! i felt great! next up was mike... he was such a nice guy... he signed my stuff said thanks, and so did i... i put out my hand once again...and he shaked it!i was elated!then came phi phi! he was great! he signed my stuff, and gave me those sort of rock hand shake kinda stuf... if you wanna get a clearer picture, go watch the 2004 EMA's when chaz and joe received their award for best rock group... they did that hand thingy with the presenter... after phi phi gave me that hand shake, i was speechless... thank god i remembered to say thanks! next was joe! he looked great... he signed my stuff and shook my hand... and then there was rob... he was the quietest... he kept saying thank you over and over again... he was so adorable... signed me stuff and shook his hand... then i reached CHESTER! He was incredible! He when i passed him my stuff, my hand accidentally got in the way of his marker and he accidentally brushed his marker on my finger... haha... after he signed my stuff i shook his hand... and he gave me a super cute and sweet smile... i didn't take any pictures coz it's all in my head...

the whole experience and their faces and smiles during the m&g will forever be etched in my mind... after that, i walked out of the m&g room and i looked back at the LP guys... it was over... with one last look, i walked out... not knowing when will be the next time i'll get to meet them face-to-face... I'm glad i mustered the courage to shake all their hands and say thanks to every one of them... If i didn't i wouldn't be able to live with myself.

The concert was a blast... it was loud, and it rocked! i went back after the concert, almost deaf, but very much alive. I bought some LP merch, and went home... I will forever remember this day. Linkin Park came, and they conquered. I love them.
