Video Download: LP - Make A Video
posted by Jas, 05/31/04
Linkin Park: Make A Video clip is up! I've edited out the BTH video to make the file smaller. File is 31 mb zipped and in windows media format, I know many of you would prefer it in mpg but the truth is I can't afford the bandwidth, running a website is not cheap, believe me if I could I would. I do have it in .mpg format (130 mb) but the only way I can send it to you is via FTP, if you have an FTP account email me your FTP info and I'll upload the file to your server. And as always, Webmasters, if you want to post this on your site please upload the file to your server and if you are willing to share the bandwidth load email me if you have it on your site and I'll post an update here to let people know where else they can download the video. Anyone else who wants to help out and donate space and bandwidth please email me. Go here to Download. Huge thanks to my friends Serein and Elf Lady for capturing and sending me the file.

Video Download: Making the Video / Joe's MTV Japan interview
posted by Jas, 05/30/04
I now have the Making the Video clip, I will have to do some editing before making it available for download 'coz the file is in extremely high res and too big for my server to handle, so I will let you know when it's available. I also have a full interview with Joe from MTV Japan where he talked about the 'Numb', 'From The Inside', 'Somewhere I Belong' and 'Breaking The Habit' videos. Joe also talked about the 'Anthem Of The Dying Day' video he directed for Story of the Year. I will put this video up for download after June 1 because the full 'Breaking The Habit' video was being played through out the interview, wouldn't want the LP Mod to come knocking at my door again :-)

Linkin Lark
The Daily Record, 05/30/04
Linkin Park frontman Mike Shinoda has become the latest victim of MTV's Punk'd, thanks to Ashton Kutcher. Linkin Park's guitarist Brad Delson and drummer Rob Bourdon were in on the Punk'd prank. But Kutcher hadn't banked on Mike's cool nu-metal demeanour as he cranked up the skit in a bid to unsettle his latest victim. The result of the encounter is yet to be screened in the US or UKand is being kept a closely guarded secret. But Rob revealed: 'We set himup in a way. I had been called in to participate and thought it - would be very funny. 'The episode hasn't aired yet and we're leaving it as a surprise for fans, but Mike handled it really well and didn't get upset. 'Most people tend to get really angry or emotional but not Mike. 'They were trying to make him mad and get him to scream at somebody but he managed to keep his cool the whole time. Hehad a calm head throughout, much to the disappointment of the cast.' (Thanks Jac)

LP Jakarta concert still on
posted by Jas, 05/29/04
A report from Indonesian paper said that concert organisers have assured fans that Linkin Park concert in Jakarta is still on. "So far, our contract with Linkin Park is good", the organisers said. Fans are worried after Missy Elliot's concert is cancelled due to 'travel warning' from the US government (don't know exactly what that means but I think it's security reasons).

Linkin Park-it
Zwire, 05/28/04
Jane Herro, working the counter at Stone Creek, said she turns off any song by Linkin Park. And any song that sounds like it could be by Linkin Park. "I can't handle that whiney rock singing," she said. Is that a direct rip on Linkin Park front man Chester Bennington? Herro said she doesn't like that singer particularly, but also dislikes anything that sounds similar to Linkin Park. Sounds derivative of Linkin Park? Like Evanescence? Exactly, she said. "That's pretty much the same thing."

Breaking The Habit video - Press release from Warner Bros.
Marketwire, 05/21/04
Press release from Warner Bros. regarding the Breaking The Habit video:

Linkin Park has created a groundbreaking video for "Breaking The Habit," the latest single off their 4-times platinum Warner Bros. album "Meteora." The video for "Breaking The Habit" was conceived by the band's turntablist and sampler Mr. Hahn and directed by renowned anime illustrator and animation director Nakazawa, the artist behind the animated sequence in Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill, Volume 1."

The "Breaking The Habit" video was produced by Gonzo Digimation Studios, based on a story by Hahn, and is set to be released to video outlets in late May. "'Breaking The Habit' is an attempt to convey the different view points of the various characters in a unified way," explains Hahn, who also wrote and directed such acclaimed Linkin Park videos as "Somewhere I Belong," "Point Of Authority," "Numb," and "From The Inside." "The story involves tenants living in the same building in a city with a pulse, and uses imagery and music to reveal their motivations. It was originally going to be a live-action project, but when I saw the work of Nakazawa I realized that we could really open up the parameters through animation. His work is very expressive and captures human mannerisms perfectly, which was very important in portraying the band members who appear in the video."

"Breaking The Habit" represents a breakthrough in music videos with its state-of-the-art anime work, which resulted from close creative collaboration between Linkin Park and Gonzo Digimation Studios, headquartered in Japan. The company is internationally known for combining 2D and 3D effects in a single animated scene, a technique used extensively in "Breaking The Habit."

Warner Bros Records will release a DVD package of the "Breaking The Habit" video on July 17. As an enhanced value, the band teamed up with U.S. manga publisher TOKYOPOP Inc. to develop a "music manga" to include in the DVD package. The 48-page book incorporates full-color images taken directly from the music video, freeze-framed into edgy spreads and peppered with manga-style text balloons and sound effects.

Linkin Park's Summer Tour Now Twice As Big
MTV.com, 05/20/04
The Projekt Revolution Tour was launched by Linkin Park in 2002 to showcase a diverse range of acts and to turn the band's fans on to music they might not normally listen to. This year the Revolution will be even more diverse, thanks to the addition of a second stage. Guitarist Brad Delson said there will be a number of surprises in store for fans at this year's event — some of which will come from the headliners. While touring behind their latest album, Meteora, for well over a year, Linkin Park have drummed up some new ways to get their fans' attention. "We're going to be taking our songs in different directions to challenge people," Delson said. "And we're going to bring back some older songs we haven't played in a while and be doing some versions of songs people haven't heard. We're also changing up some of the production elements of our actual stage set to give the show some new dynamics."

Much more Linkin Park
Star Online, 05/17/04
Kuala Lumpur had first bite of Linkin Park last October, now the rest of the region is preparing for a brace of Linkin Park concerts. Hardly eight months since the Los Angeles-based band tore apart Stadium Merdeka, the same modern rock bunch has slotted an Asia Tour that includes concert dates in Hong Kong and Singapore. No KL concert this time, but Lushington Entertainments, the regional promoters, recently announced Linkin Park shows, which kick off at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre on June 17, followed by an open air concert at The Padang, Singapore on June 22. It's time to head across the causeway – with Malaysian flags. The Singapore concert is tipped to rival the overwhelming success of Linkin Park's one-off show at Stadium Merdeka, where 27,000 tickets were snapped up in 10 days by rabid fans from all over the region. Maybe it's the same dose of Hybrid Theory and Meteora tunes all over again, but with some added new tunes, you know that this is a tempting show not to dismiss. The concert billed Linkin Park – Live In Singapore! is set for a strong Malaysian rock contingent and the outdoor atmosphere will serve as an added concert attraction.

Amphitheaters Expect Brisk Biz This Summer
Reuters, 05/15/04
This summer's amphitheater concert season in North America is packed with tours. But promoters are not sweating the competition. Unlike last summer's focus on mainstream rock, promoters say this year's variety of tours presents little risk of overlapping shows. Promoters, agents and managers say that in 2003, Ozzfest arguably butted heads with Lollapalooza and the Summer Sanitarium outing. Ozzfest included Korn in its lineup, Jane's Addiction headlined Lollapalooza and Summer Sanitarium featured Metallica and Linkin Park. But this year, the perennial metal of Ozzfest (July 10-Aug. 4) will not directly compete with Lollapalooza, which Morrissey will headline. And a third major amphitheater tour, Projekt Revolution (July 23-Sept. 5), offers the unique package of Linkin Park, Korn and Snoop Dogg.

Fled Five are fans of LP
MLive, 05/15/04
After five years and three albums, Fled Five is still rocking and still dreaming. Since forming in 1999, Fled Five has parlayed a host of modern and classic rock influences into radio-friendly hard-rock style. While Fled Five is working hard to fit in with the modern-rock radio market, guitarist Dan Banker said the group's influences are all over the musical map. "We grew up listening to the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis, Chuck Berry, then Def Leppard and Skid Row," he said. "Today, we listen to Linkin Park."

From LPU Headquarters: If you are planning on attending one of the upcoming Linkin Park shows in Europe, South East Asia, or on the Projekt Revolution tour, you will have the chance to sign up to meet Linkin Park at a Meet and Greet. We are slightly changing the sign-up process so that EVERYONE now has a fair chance to be selected as a Meet and Greet attendee. We will still be utilizing the pop-up method of signing up, but now we will select the 100 people RANDOMLY. That means the first person to sign up and the last person to sign up both have an equal chance of getting on the list (so long as they both have their own ticket to the show). It does not matter if you have attended a Meet and Greet before or if you signed up for the fan club yesterday, you will get the chance when the time comes. International Meet and Greet sign-ups will be starting soon. Look out for an email explaining the details of how to sign-up within the next week or so.

Blender magazine has listed out 50 worst songs of all time and they have come up with another 25 that according to them should be on the list and LP's 'In The End' is one of them. Critics, what do they know.

Here are screencaps of the Breaking The Habit video. A better sound quality of the video is now available for download here. Update: At the request of LP.com Mod Squad the BTH video is temporarily offline (doh!). Don't worry the video will be back up again once it's released worldwide, don't know when but I'm sure soon. In the meantime, enjoy the screencaps. UK fans you can request for the video on Kerrang TV (call # 09056 525 666, request # is 313). Asian fans you can catch the video on MTV Asia probably during the Non-Stop hits segment, they will show an introduction by Rob before they play the video.

LP's coming!!!

I must have done something good today, just announced in the local paper today that Linkin Park is coming to Singapore for a concert!!! Come rain or shine, the guys will be playing at the Padang on June 22. I missed their concert in Malaysia last year and I thought my day will never come. LP will be back in Asia this year with stops in Hong Kong and the tour is likely to include Bangkok, Jakarta and Manila. The show in Singapore will be an all-standing one with at least 20,000 tikcets available. Tickets, priced at $85 and $150, will go on sale in the next two weeks. Damn! I hate outdoor, standing only concert, I'm a small person I won't be able to see a thing! doesn't matter, I'm not gonna miss this chance of a lifetime concert.

Yes my friends, I've seen the video and it's awesome, I like it. It's all anime, the band do perform at the end of the video but in anime form. You probably need to watch it couple of times to know what it's about 'coz everything moves so fast, and remember the dead body at the crime scene? it's Chester! Okay enough talking download the video (right click and save target as.., file is zipped and in windows format, about 12mb). Sorry about the crappy quality I have a crappy software :-). Screencaps coming soon! Webmasters if you want to put the video up on your site please do not hotlink to the file, download and upload it to your server, thank you. Update: I've replaced the audio with the mp3 of the song, it's much better now. Click on the link to download again.

Breaking The Habit video clip
posted by Jas, 04/30/04
Yes! I've seen a clip. MTV Asia showed a clip of the 'Breaking The Habit' video and announced that it will premiere on MTV on May 5. I was not quick enough to grab the remote control to tape it, doh! will try to catch it again and hopefully post a clip. Now about the video, it's different alright, there's a scene that is like a story board with hand drawn characters, like the AHA 'Take On Me' video and then there's part like watching a Japanese anime, if you've seen Kill Bill (part 1) you'll get the idea, it's too short to describe what it's about. Asian fans I suggest you watch MTV Asia the whole day today, I'm sure they will show it again. By the way, the Perfect 10 (Singapore radio channel) has officially announced 'Breaking The Habit' as the new single from Linkin Park and has started playing the song.

Breaking The Habit video news
Pop Matters, 04/29/04
LPU member Emmy posted this on the LP Underground Board:
I heard this news from Warner Music Thailand which I think it's a reliable source, they told us (LP fans in Thailand) in a Thai Magazine's Webboard called "ForwardMag" that they will premeire "Breaking The Habit" Video on 4th May in Thailand through both MTV and Channel [V] Thailand. Moreover, they told us that the video which is directed by Mr. Hahn (as we know) also has staffs from "Kill Bill" movie to help him direct this video.

It's one of the more peculiar aspects of live performance these days that video takes such a prominent role. These two fields, you might think, should be the antithesis of each other. Of course, the most interesting things are the ranges of different visuals that bands, and the people who design their stage presence, choose to use. This is also the case with Linkin Park, who have just finished their Meterora Tour. The man responsible in this case was Kimo Proudfoot, who directed their Live in Texas DVD. Proudfoot's use of material that would normally find its way onto a Linkin Park video and also using imagery reminiscent of the cover art for Meterora provides for an interesting viewing from the back of the hall. But it is all playback. Other than the subject matter, there is very little connection to what is happening onstage. If you are going to go the playback route, however, it takes an old-timer to show us how it should really be done.

Joe Hahn Of Linkin Park The Video Director
Undercover, 04/23/04
Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn has another talent. He directs videos as well. Hahn is the director behind Story of the Year's 'Anthem of our Dying Day'. Hahn used his position in Linkin Park to learn his newfound skill. He also directed their 'Numb', 'Somewhere I Belong' and 'Pts.Of.Athrty' videos. He must have done a good job for Story of the Year. The airplay the band has received through 'Anthem of our Dying Day' has sent fans into stores in large numbers to buy their 'Page Avenue' album. The album was released on Madonna's Maverick label.

"Right now we're in love with Usher's album,'' Anita said. "He's bringing back R&B. He has a lot of talent. It's like Stevie Wonder or the Temptations. Another one we like a lot is Linkin Park.''
