Live 8 Philly show stage set up
posted by Jas, 06/28/05
Philadelphia Daily News has a report on the stage set up.

"We'll have a 15-by-20-foot, LED-lit video screen on the stage, plus two more screens to the immediate left and right of the stage, and then two others far right and left - spaced 200 feet out. Then we'll have four more big screens starting at Eakins Oval and going up the Parkway to the far side of Logan Circle - the last in the 1700 block of the Parkway. So people should be able to see all the way back to LOVE Park."

At each screen location, there'll be a massive speaker tower, of course, supplied by Clair Brothers of Lititz, Pa., the best in the business. "We've got the formula for sound delay down to a science," said Stevenson. "Each tower is 625 milliseconds delayed beyond the one closer to the stage."

Early arrivals take note: the sound and video show will actually light up at 8 a.m. Saturday, showing satellite-fed performances from the Hyde Park London Live 8 concert. Performances here are supposed to start at noon.

Philadelphia's Live 8 stage will be so large it can simultaneously accommodate two band setups - positioned stage left and right on rotating turntable platforms. "So when one act goes on, we'll turn the other table around, and unload/reload for the next act behind a stage wall," Stevenson said. That should make for smooth, near instantaneous transitions between acts.

Ten video cameras - handhelds, boom-mounted and one moving on a track in front of the stage - are being plotted to capture the show for on-site and distant viewing audiences by producer Greg Sills and director Bruce Gowers, a master at music concert events. Both were hired by Live 8 to help put on the show here. "We're also hoping to have a blimp-mounted camera and may also take a shot out of Billy Penn's hat" atop City Hall, said Stevenson.

MTV and VH1 will telecast eight hours of the Live 8 concerts on July 2, here's a report from AP

Related networks CMT and VH1 Classic will air concert highlights the next day featuring artists geared to their audiences.

XM Satellite Radio will carry the concerts live from Philadelphia, London, Paris, Berlin and Rome, America Online also announced on Wednesday. The Premiere Radio Networks will also carry concert coverage and performances tailored to three different radio formats — urban, rock and pop. MTV Networks will air customized programming from July 2's Live 8 concerts on its various networks around the globe. Stateside, MTV, VH1 and MTV college net mtvU will run a shared feed for the first time.

James Brown, Sheryl Crow and the Cure have been added to the line-up of the Paris concert, there's a rumour that original line-up of the Sex Pistols are to reform for the London concert. While Rolling Stones and David Bowie turned down the invitation, Motley Crue is one of the 65 bands (Meat Loaf and Status Quo among others) who were reportedly turned down by organisers to appear in London's Hyde Park. I think Status Quo should be allowed to play, there's nothing more apt than to play 'Rockin' All Over The World' to open the show like they did twenty years ago. Turning up volume on tees
posted by Jas, 06/17/05
LA Daily News has an article about Donn Delson (Brad's dad) where he talked about the quality of Linkin Park merchandise.

Business schools may someday look to alternative rockers Linkin Park as a textbook example of entrepreneurial spirit. When the band started making a name for itself five years ago by incorporating rap into its lyrics and replacing 12-piece drum sets with turntables, Donn Delson's life was also changing. His son, Brad Delson, played lead guitar in Linkin Park, and the band was concerned about the quality of its merchandise.

"Brad came to me and said, 'Dad, we are not comfortable with what's out there and we want to make sure everything the fan purchases is first class,"' Delson recalled. "So my son really inspired me to get started in the business."

What we try to do is enhance the revenue potential for the brand without compromising its integrity," said Delson during a recent tour of his new 15,000-square-foot facility. But the former marketing executive at 20th Century Fox quickly ditches the business talk and often focuses on his family's indelible mark on BandMerch. Delson has three sons, all making their way through their 20s. His oldest, Brad, is still playing guitar for Linkin Park. Greg Delson, 25, is a musician and project manager at BandMerch. And Jeff Delson, 21, is a recent graduate of the University of California at Berkeley who plans to work at BandMerch after touring South America for a month.

"It's really cool that I get to work with my kids. They are so smart and bring such great ideas," said Delson, noting he inadvertently frequents the same club as his kids for business. "I ran into Brad once at the House of Blues, and we were both surprised to see each other." Full article

Victoria reports that both LP Fuse and ChesterSings are posting audio tracks of the Meteora World Tour Gig in Toronto Canada. What's different about the tracks is that it's a recording of Mike's vocal only! it's indeed funny and scary and in some tracks Mike sounds sexy LOL! Don't miss this downloads, it's one of those rare gems you won't find anywhere else.

Mike and Joe at NIN concert
posted by Jas, 06/10/05
Rolling Stone reports that Mike and Joe were at the Nine Inch Nails concert too when they went to see Bon Jovi in concert in Las Vegas on April 30.

Count Dave Navarro among the other members of Reznor's fan club. "He's like the only guy that I get crush-y around," the former Jane's Addiction guitarist said at Nine Inch Nails' Vegas show. "I've been on tour with him, and I've known him forever. He will always have that [rock star] vibe. I don't care if he's f***ing ripped -- like he is now -- or a scrawny little skinny guy, there's just something about him." Fellow NIN faithful, Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn, and Mike Einziger of Incubus were also in awe. "This is the best concert I've seen since the Go-Go's when I was six," said Einziger. Also on hand for Reznor's coronation were Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and Robbie Robertson

Stocks n' Roll

Drowned in Sound talks about the feud between Linkin Park and Warner

Given that medical science has proved that Linkin Park's music induces vomiting, (even from their own singer), it seems a little rich of the band to strike over Warner Music's recent financial overhauls. Rich is the important word however, because as the millionaire (c)rap-metallers fight against their label's share prices, one thing has become clear: forget rock n' roll, or even grot n' roll – it's all about stocks n' roll these days. Video Download Update
    posted by Jas, 06/07/05
Good news! everyone, Rapid Share now has increased the filesize limit that I can upload to 50 mb! yippee!! I have re-upload all the concert videos again but there are some videos which still require WinRaR. Almost all the videos on the Media Page are now available for download, no need to send me an email request anymore, just email me if there's any broken link and I'll upload the file again. Oh and just so you know, Rapid Share has what they called a RapidShare Happy-Hours which is between 3 am to 5 am CET. During this time, everyone may download as much as you want. No limits, no restrictions, more details in the FAQ

Now that most files are available for download I've decided not to keep a mailing list so check the site for any new video added. If you missed the announcement here you can always check the Media Page or the News Archives. I am now uploading the Docklands show and the 2001 Rock Am Ring concert, will post an update when they are available for download. As for the MTV Video Music Awards Japan, I've contacted a couple of my friends, have patience, we are all busy people here, I will post the clip as soon as I get it.

She said that the article is about the kind of music group LP is that they cannot be classified because it's unique, then it says how they met and how the band was started, who they are. The magazine also talks about their albums and why LP would like to quit Warner.

Video Download: Summer Sanitarium, Minneapolis 2003 - From The Inside
    posted by Jas, 06/02/05
Steffi from Place4MyHead.com is posting one video every two weeks from the 2003 Summer Sanitarium tour from Minneapolis. To help her distribute the video I'm also putting the file up for download at RapidShare. File will be deleted after two weeks and replaced with a new one so download it before it's gone. 8th video up is 'From The Inside', 14 mb in rm format. Please note that this is a bootleg video so don't expect it to be a TV quality. Click here to download, file is hosted at RapidShare, click here for download instruction.

A tip for those who hate Real Player, you can still play RM videos by downloading Real Alternative, it will allow you to play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer/RealOne Player. When you install the codecs, Window Media Player Classic Version 6.4.8.4 will be installed too and will be the default player for rm files but rm files can also be manipulated to play in Windows later version like version 10, just change the "OPEN WITH" in the properties of rm files. More info here. Thanks to Jayson for the tip.

    Fort Minor site update
    posted by Jas, 06/01/05
It's alive!!!! the official Fort Minor website has been updated with a new intro-sample and many coded messages, okay it looks cool and all but I'm too old for this LOL! so thanks to Wesley for taking the time to decode them and here's what the messages on the front page say...

"Greetings - Welcome to the Fort Minor Official Site. The fact that you are actually translating this portion of the site means that you are either a dedicated fan or a complete lunatic. In either case, we are happy to have you. Enjoy."

"Also - Keep exploring the site for secrets about the album. It will change without warning."

The website have a secret link with this message: "This coded message area will be a place to look for exclusive Fort Minor news."

Wesley has also ripped one of the intro samples and is available for download here (2.5 mb hosted at RapidShare), I must say it sounds promising.
