Fort Minor: We Major

"Fort Minor: We Major" is the title for Mike's mixtape, details here from MTV. Hahninator has posted the album artcover and the track listing on the album at the FM board and acapella version of RTN and Petrified have also been posted on the board

The bond between Jay-Z and Linkin Park is not just a monetary alliance. They are real cool. So when the group's MC, Mike Shinoda, needed a drop from Young Hov for his mixtape, all he had to do was send a text message. "I hit him with a text, 'Man, can you give me something for the mixtape?' Next thing I know, I checked my phone [and Jay sent a drop]."

Shinoda, who records under the name Fort Minor for his solo endeavors, is putting out the LP Rising Tied on November 22. But next week, he'll release a mixtape he did with Green Lantern. "I first met Green when we were out on tour, just hanging out — this was pre-Collision Course," Shinoda explained. "He hit me with a couple of his Shady [Records] mixtapes and I was like, 'Thanks man, I got the first one and I've wanted to get these.' We swapped numbers and he was the first person I called. He did a real good job."

Shinoda's mixtape is called Fort Minor: We Major. "I told [Green] he had to come up with the title so he came up with We Major, from the Kanye song. But I thought that was an excellent idea doing the "minor" and "major." Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface, Styles of Beyond and Juelz Santana all appear on the mixtape.

This is shocking, how on middle earth did I miss them? Mike says in his latest blog entry that Chester, Brad and Rob and some other friends are in the 'Remember The Name' video! I was concentrating on Mike alone and didn't pay much attention to the others LOL! Watch the video again and see if you can spot them.

Just received the FM Newsletter saying that Mike has posted a handwritten letter to all the fans on his Myspace blog. Newsletter also contains info on the Fort Minor Militia to be launched soon and the premiere of 'Remember The Name' video at Fort Minor's Myspace on Thursday

Chester to perform at the annual Etnies GvR of Skateboarding

Skateboard.com reports that the 2nd Annual Etnies GvR of Skateboarding contest will be held on Oct 21-23 at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest. A line-up of bands will perform throughout the weekend and Chester will perform with Bucket of Weenies on Saturday at 2 pm. More details here. Update: Tom reports that according to Rock n Roll Hollywood, Chester and Bucket of Weenies are set to perform at the Avalon Hollywood, California on October 25. Mike on the singles controversy

Mike has posted a message on the Fort Minor board and explained the FM singles. He also mentioned that 'Remember The Name' video will be included in a DVD to released soon for FM club members only. Thanks to Jonathan for the tip

some of you have already figured this out, but i suppose it's only right that i clarify what's going on with the FM singles...

PETRIFIED is getting started here in the U.S. we're just beginning to get support from FUSE, MTV2, MTVU, and various radio stations. to vote for the song on Fuse's "Oven Fresh" go to: http://fuse.tv/content/se/ovenfresh.php on radio and video, we appreciate your support--call in to your radio stations and request the song!

BELIEVE ME is the single outside the U.S. in many places, it's doing very well. The video is out there too. there are too many places to get into details, but "thanks" to everyone who has been supporting the song!

...just so you know, we're planning to include a DVD of those two videos PLUS a video for remember the name and the "making of petrified" with the fort minor fan club membership. the fan club will be opening up shortly...it's called FORT MINOR MILITIA

Jay-Z Helps Linkin Park Member Build Fort

RWD magazine has an article about Jay-Z and Mike talking about Fort Minor's "The Rising Tied". I read the news about Jay-Z wanting to buy British football club, Arsenal, the other day, I know Jay is rich but I didn't know he's that rich!

When Jay-Z isn't thinking about investing in London based football clubs (apparently), he's helping his peers get their music out. Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda is preparing his solo hip hop project, The Rising Tied under the moniker Fort Minor, and Jigga has jumped on board to exec. produce the disc. "The Fort Minor record is all about getting back to basics in hip hop, both sonically and for me personally. I wanted to make sure this album has a unique identity. Part of that identity is an organic sound; less keyboard, more instruments," So it's no surprise to see that Shinoda wrote and played virtually every note on the album.

The Linkin Park MC and Hova had previously worked together on the mash-up release Collision Course which sold well over 1 million records. "Working with Jay-Z again has been phenomenal. We can't wait for people to hear the final product. We have such a great working relationship; having his opinion has been invaluable for me throughout the process. Jay's got a great way of making suggestions whilst letting the artists keep their creative control and momentum."

The album also features Common, John Legend, and a big, big verse from Black Thought of The Roots on Right Now. "Right Now is a cross section of everyday life as each person sees it," Shinoda explains. "And Black Thoughts's verse is one of the best I've ever heard him do. It's beautiful. And it made the song just perfect to me." The 14 track album will be out on November 21st, with the singles Petrified and Remember The Name doing well in the US, and the UK single Believe Me out on November 14th.

just stopping in and saying hi again. i'm tired--putting out an album on your own is exhausing! i can't wait til i get back to having five other guys to share the work with! hahaha anyway, i hope everybody has seen the fort minor videos that are making the rounds on the web. if you haven't, "petrified" is on the fort minor player, and "believe me" is on various music channel sites.

as you can see, this is not a normal release with just a single and a video--we have a TON of material to get out there to you. i just talked to green lantern, and he says the fort minor mixtape should be done this week...

i just wanted to say hi and post something that's not fort minor related...i want to point out something about LPU 5. if you haven't heard yet, we're working on a record right now. that means if we get it finished soon enough, we'll be able to put it out next year. which means that an LPU 5 membership would come in really handy. i can't promise anything, because you never know what can happen with an album. but whatever happens, i'll be working hard on some music, and i'll be posting here as usual.

'Home Sweet Home' review

A review of 'Home Sweet Home' by Motley Crue featuring Chester Bennington from News 1

The latest effort by the hard rock/metal world to help Hurricane Katrina victims is a new version of Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home," with sales of the single at iTunes going to charity. The classic song is turned into a powerful tribute with the addition of Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, an orchestra and a gospel choir that sings so gloriously its voices will offer inspiration to the devastated cities. He also mentioned that there will be a special edition of "The Rising Tied" album which will include a 25-minute DVD and three extra songs. Serenade reports that my fellow countrymen djnico89 posted on the FM board that he caught the 'Believe Me' video on MTV Asia (Singapore) this morning. I haven't seen it yet, he said it came on at 9 am which means during the MTV Pick & Play segment so catch this show in case it airs again. I would also suggest watching Chart Attack and MTV Brand New, check schedule here. Nrchy has also posted on the board that the video has premiered on MTV Philippines. I will post an update if I catch the video, wish we have that Tivo thing. Update: More on the video from FM Newsletter, the video will also be online at MTV.com (or click on MTV Overdrive and do a search on Fort Minor, screen size is larger than the one on the Producer player) and then on Monday, Oct 10 it will premiere on Fuse's Oven Fresh as well on MTV2. Celebrity Close-Ups has posted new pics of Chester at the "Forever In Our Hearts" Tsunami Event at Chi in Hollywood, CA on March 10, 05. Speaking of new pics, Linkin Lady has three new pics of Joe as the honorary parade marshall at some event. I don't know where or when this event took place, anyone has any idea please let me know.
