New outlets for videos inspire 50, Will.I.Am, Linkin, others to think visual
posted by Jas, 07/12/06
MTV has an article about music videos which has a view from Joe Hahn.

With new video outlets providing forums for different kinds of videos — from the standard to the experimental — to reach the public there's no question the landscape for videos has recently changed entirely, and most artists agree the shift is an improvement.

"From a fan's perspective, I think it's cool because sometimes a video is played for a short amount of time and you never see it again," System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan said. "I like videos, personally — then again, I used to watch Pink Floyd's 'The Wall,' like, once a week."

"It's just another way for artists to be able to show what they have," said Linkin Park's DJ and resident video director, Joe Hahn. "It's a great way for not just the big bands that have the opportunity on the mainstream level, but some of the smaller bands to get that exposure. And they're unrated, so more booty shaking!" -- Full article

A message from Mike regarding a brand new LinkinPark.com site

the new linkinpark "construction site" is up (go to linkinpark.com). watch the billboard screen and the posters. all the content is from the history of the band--videos and clips, etc. the posters are really cool, because they're all actual tour posters from all over the world. i like those a lot. watch them over time, too: they change. maybe a tour poster from your city will show up there!...anyway, don't forget to post something on the board to say hi and give a comment or two about the new site.
