Linkin Park Rejuvenate in Japan
posted by Jas, 10/30/06
Mike and Phoenix talk about Linkin Park's recent trip to Japan
While Linkin Park have spent much of 2006 writing and recording their next album, the rockers recently took a trip to Japan to headline the Summer Sonic Festival. How was it for them, being onstage after such a long hiatus?
"At this point we never intended to be off as long as we have been, so I think that's a good thing," bass player Phoenix tells AOL Music. "We're completely rejuvenated. We're excited about getting out to play live again, excited to have fans hear the new stuff and also excited to play the old stuff again."
Mike Shinoda says that after the long break from the public eye, the band didn't know what to expect. "When we were there, it was a weird feeling. It's a festival crowd, you don't know who's stuck around to watch you, we haven't had a record out in a while, so it's like, 'What are we in for?'" he recalls. "The love we got from the crowd was so overwhelming. They watched the whole show, sang every word, and it's a great feeling to know they're really still with us."
Chester the pirate?

No, Chaz is not gonna be on "Pirates 3: At World's End" but his name shows up at Internet Movie Database in another movie called "Dark Reel" currently in production and he's playing a part of a pirate. Remember, info submitted to IMDB is from the fans so for now take it as a rumour. Movie is set to be released on June 25, 2007. Thanks to Susy for the tip.

Fort Minor want fans for next video

AOL reports that Mike is looking for fans' video for the 'Remember the Name' music video, thanks to Wesley for the tip
Mike Shinoda is well into the next Linkin Park album, but that doesn't mean he's forgetting about his Fort Minor side project. He's doing a video for the track 'Remember the Name,' and he wants you. The video, he says, will look like a highlight reel: "All those kids who put up crazy stuff that they've done in sports -- extreme sports, basketball, kung fu -- we're going to make a Fort Minor 'Remember the Name' video out of your clips," he told AOL Music at the Fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, where he and LP band mate Phoenix were presenters. "I love going on You Tube and seeing all the crazy s*** that people do," Shinoda said. "That's what really inspired me to want to do this."

Linkin Park get eclectic on album
posted by Jas, 10/18/06
At the recent Fangoria Chainsaw Awards Mike and Phoenix talked a little bit about the new album
At the Fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards over the weekend, Linkin Park's Phoenix and Mike Shinoda said the band's long-awaited next album is taking form. "As of maybe a week and a half, two weeks ago, we went from 30 down to 17-ish, song-wise, and that's an exciting point for us," Phoenix tells AOL Music. "The album is starting to take a little bit more of a shape."
The band credits its experimentalism on this album in large part to producer Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Beastie Boys). "Rick is one of those guys where you can go through any door you want to go through," Shinoda says. "We're trying everything, just messing around with it until it sounds good."
Phoenix says that's created an album that will confound expectations of the band. "The thing for me with Rick is that he's open to whatever happens, and I think for us it's created a very different album than what we were expecting." And good luck trying to imagine what that new direction might sound like: "Even different than your new expectations that you just made -- that's how different," Phoenix says.
