Video Download: Mike at Grammy style studio
posted by Jas, 02/21/07
Ultimate Guitar has video clips of Mike at the Grammy style studio where he gave an update on the new album saying that it will be finished before summer. Download clip here. Thanks to eifersucht for the tip.
"I come through... I think I've come through every year for the last few years. It's cool. It's also... I always run into friends that I haven't seen in a while every time I come to these things. I just caught Black Thought (from The Roots) and some friends that work for some of the companies. It's always good to hang out for a second."
Shinoda also said that the band is being really particular with their forthcoming album, and he described the latest progress and when they'll finish. "Um, before summer. We are... We had narrowed it down to about sixteen to eighteen songs, and we are in the mixing stage right now. We're still trying to tighten a few things up, musically, and we're mixing some songs."
Young Buck: Buck The World
posted by Jas, 02/19/07
Young Buck mentions Chester in his interview with Ballerstatus
Ballerstatus: Yeah, definitely. Who is going to be on the record?
Young Buck: Honestly man, I'm so stuck on this record. I got a record with me and Chester from f---ing Linkin Park. How many motherf---ers do you know have Linkin Park on their sh--?
Ballerstatus: You mean Chester Bennington?
Young Buck: You damn, right! That's the man. I got a record with him that's ridiculous. To me, that's probably one of the biggest records I've ever done. It's stupid, bro. It's the realest song I ever made in my life. I got a song with me, Snoop Dogg and Trick Daddy. I got a song with Bun B, 8 Ball and MJG that's called "Say It To Me Face," that's addictive, bro. This whole album is stupid. I got a song with Lyfe that's called "Buck The World," the title of the record. It's a crazy. I got a record called "Hold On," that Eminem produced. I got some rock & roll sh--, y'all gonna think Metallica is living in this bitch. I'm on some real different sh-- with some brand new, up to date, hood good sh--, man. Just follow me, man. I'm a special type of n----. I think you know that by now, but I'm trying to convince the world n---- that I got this sh--.
Ballerstatus: You never really see many rock-rap fused records nowadays. Why do you think that is?
Young Buck: Well honestly man, at the end of the day, a lot of the rap is high energy and a lot of rock is high energy. So you got two things that is really dope, amongst energy, it's just a matter of time before they clash. The simulation has always been there. As far from a hip-hop standpoint, being able to understand exactly what the rock & roll artists are doing and vice versa for them, they're trying to understand what we're doing. It's all about stretching out and working with them, being there and opening up enough to want to work with people like that. For me, I got an ear for music, period. I can hear something and it don't matter if it's rock, country, whatever. If that sh-- is bumping, I'm drawn to it and that's pretty much what happened with Linkin Park. I'm a fan of their work, heavy, cause I'm drawn to what they do.

Young Buck and Chester's track
posted by Jas, 02/17/07
In an interview with Rap Basement, Young Buck said his track with Chester is called 'Slow Your Roll'.
"I got a record with Chester Bennington titled "Slow Your Roll." It will probably be my third single. It's probably the realest record I ever wrote in my life, every word, every rhyme, every lyric when you hear it it's true and I guarantee you will lose your breath."

"They really are reinventing themselves," Rubin said of the band, mixing now for a summer release. "It doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's very strong songwriting. I've heard guys in the band say that it transcends everything they've done before, like it puts them in a whole different light in their minds, and they really like that. It's very melodic. It's a progressive record."

A Peabody's Mashup to Remember
posted by Jas, 02/06/07
Jeffrey Nothing has this to say about the Jay-Z/Linkin Park mashup.
TC: Why do you think the Jay- Z and Linkin Park mashup was such a big hit?
Nothing: Because both artists are golden right now. They could both be known as Midas and it made complete sense to join two talents that the world already loves solo... it really was a nobrainer.
Rob chat transcript
posted by Jas, 02/05/07
Nothing much is revealed about the new single or the new album during the LPU chat with Rob this afternoon but one thing for sure is that there is going to be a Projekt Revolution tour this year. Go here for the transcript
Excerpts:
We're very excited about the new album, can't wait for you guys to hear it. It should be out by summertime. On the new album, we worked with Rick Rubin which was a very exciting and different experience from our past ones, and we were able to write some songs, and move in a direction we'ver never gone before. You guys are going to love it.
We don't know what the name of the first single is, or which song on the album it will be. It's hard to choose which the single should because love all the songs.
I learned a lot from working with Rick Rubin on this album, and one of the most important things I learned was to find the right feel behind performance, and the way I listen to my drum parts now is totally different. One of the most important lessons that I learned from Rick, is sometimes the 1st performance can be better than the 100th one, even though a lot of work went into making the 100th one different, it doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
When we're touring we tend to always mix it up, playing older stuff and newer stuff. I think it will be great to play some of the first songs ever written, along with the newer songs.
We didn't completely change our sound, but we definitely want to experiment and try some new things. Each guy in the band has different influences and that's what made the process so creative.
Yes there's a very good chance Joe will be directing the video for the first single, as soon as we find out which one is going to be the first one.
The album is definitely different than the others, but I think you guys are really going to love it, because we love it. All the albums we've put out in the past we've loved 100%.
Yes we are planning to do Projekt Revolution this year, and we're putting together the line-up now
The April release date was bad info. We are currently mixing the songs that we know will be on the album. And there's still a few up in question songs that will be the last to get mixed. After that we will sequence and master the album.
The new album definitely has an eclectic mix of styles, some similar to what we've done in the past, and some completely different.
There's definitely a chance that we'll release some exclusive songs in the future, just not sure where or which songs just yet.

In an interview with Claudio Sanchez from Coheed And Cambria, the singer mentioned that there's a possibility of a Projekt Revolution tour this year. Thanks to LiNkIn5PaRk for the tip
What else can fans expect from Coheed or Prize Fighter in 2007? Perhaps a tour?
Oh, without a doubt. There's so much up in the air that we're kind of looking at, possibly the Warped Tour. There's a tour called Projekt Revolution that's a possibility. It's really hard to say. We'll see. We're just taking it kind of one step at a time. Right now, the real focus is getting our record done. But we will tour, without a doubt.

New LP album out April 30
posted by Jas, 02/01/07
NME reports that the new Linkin Park album will be released on April 30 in UK.
Linkin Park are set to release their new album on April 30. The as-yet-untitled third album is the follow up to their last studio album, 2003's 'Meteora'. The LP has been produced by Rick Rubin along with co-lead vocalist Mike Shinoda.
In a statement, dual frontman Chester Bennington has described the album as "dark and spooky, poppy and very melodic... We're straying away from a lot of the predictable sounds we've had in the past. But there's no question in your mind when you hear it that it's Linkin Park.
On working with Rubin Bennington said: "Rick has brought more of a stripped down, classic-rock and hip-hop kind of feel. We're using vintage guitars and drums made out of wood and skin for a more tribal sound. It's definitely not nu-metal."
Download Festival returns for 2007
posted by Jas, 02/01/07
Nothing big but nice to see a nice comment about Linkin Park about their participation in this year's Download festival.
With a sound that is unmistakable, Linkin Park headline day two. Having sold in excess of 35 million albums worldwide, Linkin Park truly are the purveyors of a new brand of alternative rock music. With a hybrid of genres that appeal to a multitude of fans, the use of turntables, samplers and the classic 'rock' instruments, Linkin Park cover a truly versatile ground and provide an entertaining and unique performance. A new album (produced by Rick Rubin) is due for release in the summer of this year. Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington says, "We're really excited to perform new music for all of our UK fans as well as the old favourites you know and love. Download is always awesome and the bands this year are going to be amazing. UK fans are some of the best in the world and we can't wait to see you!"
