Full message from Phoenix from LP Newsletter

Linkin Park Fans,

What's happening? We have quite a bit of news for you.

Firstly, our new album has officially entered the "mixing stage" of the process. We have put more into the new album than anything we have ever done before. After over a year of writing, recording, and setting unrealistic finish dates for the record (sorry about that!), we are in the home stretch. The new album is very exciting for the six of us, and we can't wait until everyone can hear it! When can you get your first taste? We are looking to release the first single in March.

Some of you may think you have already heard some new music; not true. You have heard either Qwerty, or Announcement Service Public...both tracks that came out of our recording process, but neither of which will be on the album. They are currently available on this year's LPU CD, go check out www.lpunderground.com.

Also, get ready for LPTV. We are going to be releasing a series of internet webisodes on www.linkinpark.com that will give a history of Linkin Park, as well as an inside look at the studio experience with the new album. LPU members will have access to extended footage on almost all of the LPTV episodes.

Lastly, for all of you street teamers, we will be opening the team in the coming months to all you who believe in us, and want to help us spread the word - look out for more coming soon on how to join. I can't wait until you can all hear the new music!

Fort Minor: The Rising Tide is finally uncaged
posted by Jas, 01/24/07
Late but great review of Fort Minor's "The Rising Tied" album

Linkin Park's front man Mike Shinoda, has created a sound that can appeal to the masses. The beats, the lyrics and the overall musical atmosphere this album creates are second to none. Fort minor does an excellent job of combining catchy hooks, with conscience lyrics. Shinoda brings something new to the table with each track. Full review

Diamond Back Online's Top Ten releases of 2007.

8. Linkin Park
It's been only four years since Linkin Park released Meteora and was on top of the pop/rock world, but a great deal has changed since then. Nu-metal, Linkin Park's brand of rap/rock music, is no longer in vogue as emo/punk bands such as Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco rule the charts and MTV's TRL. Since Meteora, Linkin Park has collaborated with Jay-Z, released a live album and performed at the Grammys with H.O.V.A. and Paul McCartney. Linkin Park's as yet untitled third album is set for release this spring, and features band MC Mike Shinoda and the legendary Rick Rubin co-producing the album. Lead singer Chester Bennigton has promised a new sound. "We're straying away from a lot of the predictable sounds we've had in the past, but there's no question in your mind when you hear it that it's Linkin Park," he said in a interview with MTV's TRL. Shinoda described one of the songs, "Accident," to Rolling Stone: "The guitar sounds like Metallica, the beat sounds like Motown and there's a Stones-like groove to it. But it's got rapping and Clash-style vocals," he says. It will be interesting to see if straying from its bread and butter and evolving will be a risk worth taking, or if it will send Linkin Park spiraling into obscurity.

Chester's expectation for the new album
posted by Jas, 01/05/07
Chester said he expects the third Linkin Park album to sell more than two million copies otherwise it's considered a huge failure. San Bernardino Sun takes a look at some of the releases in 2007 and reports that LP's new album is expected to be released late spring.

Linkin Park's Chester Bennington has high expectations for the band's third studio album. He said he'll be devastated if it sells less than two million copies. The hip-hop rocker's last release, 2003's Meteora, was a worldwide success selling more than 3.5million copies. The album is due for release this year and Chester is determined it should improve on their last. He said "If this record only sells one or two million, that's a huge failure. We really wouldn't be happy if that happened. I would be upset because I take a lot of pride in what we do."

The Beatles, Green Day, and U2 took the top three positions for artists and Nimrod (Green Day), Jagged Little Pill (Alanis Morrissette), and Hybrid Theory (Linkin Park) scored as most traded titles. Top Traded Titles also included Beatles 1 (The Beatles), A Rush Of Blood To The Head (Coldplay), A Boy Named Goo (Goo Goo Dolls), Dookie (Green Day), Come Away With Me (Norah Jones), Yourself Or Someone Like You (Matchbox 20) and Play (Moby).
