Linkin Park Wants YOU!
posted by Jas, 03/28/07
I hate AOL right now! they got to listen to the entire "Minutes To Midnight" album today, soooo jealous right now! Anyway, they have another teaser for 'What I've Done' and they also said that Linkin Park want the fans to be involved in a project.
We reported a couple of week ago that Linkin Park fans should expect big ... and very different things from their new album, 'Minutes to Midnight.' Well, today we got to listen to the entire album and we have two words for ya -- OH SH*%! Not only is this record the most melodic and diverse stuff they've ever written, it also some of the best music they've ever recorded. It blew away all of our expectations and we've got no doubts that the band has another monster on their hands.
The band also told us that they want to do something radical with their AOL Music fans. They want to get YOU involved in this project -- so help us make your wildest Linkin Park fantasies come true and give us some great ideas on how you can get involved in this project. You've got to wait until May 15 to hear the whole thing, but check out this teaser for the album's first single, 'What I've Done,' for a little inspiration and send us your ideas!

Chester in KL on April 4
posted by Jas, 03/28/07
SJ reports that Malaysia's The Malay Mail reports that Chester will be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on April 4 to promote "Minutes To Midnight". He will be at the Le Meridien Hotel for a media listening session and then at Tower Records at KLCC to launch the album's pre-sale campaign.
Rap rock group Linkin Park will be releasing their third studio album, Minutes To Midnight, on May 15 and Malaysians will be among the first in the world to hear it. As part of their pre-release promotion, the band's singer, Chester Bennington will be in Kuala Lumpur for a special media listening session of the new album on April 4 at Le Meridien Hotel. Kuala Lumpur is his only stop in this region.
Bennington will also appear at Tower Records KLCC on April 4 to officiate the launch of the album's pre-sale campaign. Every cassette or CD prebooked that day will come with an exclusive collectable Linkin Park giant poster. Co-produced by Mike Shinoda and legendary producer Rick Rubin, Minutes to Midnight was recorded at The Mansion in Laurel Canyon and is being touted by critics as the band's best and most important work to date.
"We have put more into the new album than anything we have ever done before," said bassist Dave 'Phoenix' Farrell. The band spent more than 14 months in the studio and wrote more than 100 song demos for the project. Vocalist Mike Shinoda described it as "a breakthrough in the development of the band's sound." "We wrote in new ways and used instruments and equipment we hadn't experimented with, from vintage guitars and amps to mellotron to Rick Rubin's original 808 drum machine he used on the Beastie Boys' fi rst record," Shinoda said.
"They really are re-inventing themselves, it doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's strong song-writing, it's a melodic and progressive record," said Rubin. The first single is What I've Done which will be released worldwide on April 2. However, those who want to hear snippets of the song can do so via mobile downloads. posted by Jas, 03/26/07
Artisan News has a video inteview with Saosin where they said that they will join Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour with My Chemical Romance, Placebo, Taking Back Sunday, HIM, Mindless Self Indulgence and others this fall.
Saosin bassist Chris Sorenson and singer Cove Reber revealed that they're really stoked to be on a bill with so many superstars. [Sorenson] "We come back for three weeks we have off in the summer, and then we start Projekt Revolution with Linkin Park, My Chem, HIM, [Reber]"...Taking Back Sunday, HIM" [Sorenson] "Taking Back Sunday, Placebo, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Bled..." [Reber] "...possibly Mastodon?" [Sorenson] I don't think Mastodon is on it, but, yeah, possibly, Saosin. [Reber] "The Saosins."
We asked Saosin if they had ever experienced a Projekt Revolution tour as fans, or heard about it from some of their peers. [Sorenson] "No. We have no clue what it's about. [Reber] "That's why I think we're so stoked is I think there's only been like three or four of these things?" [Sorenson] "Three. I think Korn was on one year. Two years ago The Used did it, and..." [Cove] "..they told us it was great." [Sorenson] "They thought it was great, but it was very hip-hop. Snoop Dogg was, like, the headliner and the RZA was playing, and they said it was hard. It was a hard tour. This year is more rock, but when are you going to have a chance to play in front of Snoop Dogg's fans of Placebo's fans..." [Reber] "...as a band like us." [Sorenson] "...or Linkin Park's fans, for us?"
At press time, the Linkin Park camp was unavailable for comment about the line-up or dates for the tour.

"Slow Ya Roll" (featuring Linkin Park's Chester Bennington)
"That's one of my favorite records on the album," Buck said. "I'm definitely trying to make that my third record. Everything that you hear on every verse on that record is the truth. ... That's why I wanna make a video for that record. ... I became a fan of Linkin Park from touring overseas, 'cause they're big over there. So when I heard Chester's voice, I was like, 'Damn, I could hear his voice on this song.' Prediction for Minutes To Midnight
posted by Jas, 03/17/07
Two 411 Mania writers talk about the upcoming Linkin Park album.
With Rick Rubin on board to add focus, the new Linkin Park album, Minutes To Midnight, will be as successful and sound as good as Hybrid Theory.
James Munson: FACT. I've never been a fan of Linkin Park's hybrid (pardon the pun) of nu metal, rap, and electronica. However, if they're going to try and make a huge comeback following the amount of time between Meteora and this new record, Rubin's the man to do it. Reviving Johnny Cash's career and assisting Neil Diamond with his last record, Rubin seems to be the popular go-to guy these days. One reason why this might be in vain, though: look at the last Weezer record.
Ian Wright: FACT. Wow, as successful and sound as good as Hybrid Theory? Kinda damning with faint praise there, Mitch. All that music sounds like an orang-utan bellowing to me, but Rubin is a genius producer so he might make yer man Bennington sound like a slightly higher primate screaming.
Score: And One (for 2)

no, not emo. also, not rap rock, not nu metal, not metal, not punk, not scene, not hip hop, not classic rock, not polka, not any other lame label
yes, may 15th.
anyway, thanks for sticking around and being here for the big news. we love you guys, and can't wait for you to hear the new music!

Brad talks about the new album in an interview with Billboard, some of the song titles are "The Little Things Give You Away", "Bleed It Out" and a song with two working titles, "When My Time Comes" or "Leave Out All the Rest". Read Chester's long interview with MTV (did I read correctly? Brad has a guitar solo? about time!!) and Mike's interview with Rolling Stone. By the way the official site has a new flash welcome page and don't forget, tickets for the European festivals are now on sale

I knew I shouldn't have gone to bed, at last! an official confirmation from the LPU Newsletter:
You're hearing it first on LPU…
Linkin Park's much-anticipated new album, Minutes to Midnight, will be in stores on TUESDAY, MAY 15! If you are outside of the US, you can find the album in stores on MONDAY, MAY 14.
Expect to hear the first piece of brand new music starting on April 2, when the new single "What I've Done" will be released. "We have put more into the new album than anything we have ever done before," says bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell. The band spent over 14 months in the studio and wrote more than 100 song demos in the making of Minutes to Midnight, an album which vocalist Mike Shinoda sees as, "a breakthrough in the development of the band's sound."
Mark your calendars for Minutes to Midnight on May 15!
And the press release from Warner Bros. Records
The anticipation and rumors about multi-platinum Grammy® award-winning Linkin Park's third studio album were finally answered today, with the announcement that the record, titled "Minutes to Midnight," will hit stores May 15th on Warner Bros. Records/Machine Shop Recordings. Co-produced by Mike Shinoda and 2007 Grammy Producer of The Year, Rick Rubin, "Minutes to Midnight" was recorded at the infamous Mansion at Laurel Canyon and is already being touted by critics who have heard it as the band's best and most important work to date.
The first single, "What I've Done," will be released worldwide April 2, 2007. "We have put more into the new album than anything we have ever done before," says bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell. The band spent over 14 months in the studio and wrote more than 100 song demos in the making of "Minutes to Midnight," an album which vocalist Mike Shinoda sees as "a breakthrough in the development of the band's sound. We wrote in new ways, and used instruments and equipment we hadn't experimented with before, from vintage guitars and amps to mellotron to Rick's original 808 drum machine he used on the Beastie Boys' first record. We tried to question every step in our songwriting process." Producer Rick Rubin agrees: "They really are reinventing themselves, it doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's very strong songwriting. It's very melodic... a progressive record."
The coming weeks will see the launch of LPTV, a series of webisodes that can be viewed on www.linkinpark.com. The series will focus on "unseen footage of the history of Linkin Park, building up to an inside look at the studio experience of the new album," says Farrell. Linkin Park will headline the second day of this summer's Bamboozle music festival on May 6 in New Jersey before embarking on a headlining European tour in June. Next month, the band expects to announce plans for "a summer tour with an unmissable lineup," says Shinoda. "I know that's not a word, but this tour is worth making up words for."

Update: I've been getting a lot of emails since the news broke out, some say the message is real, some say it's fake and now even Rolling Stone magazine has picked up the story, don't be surprised if it appears on MTV site later, hopefully we will get an official word from the band soon, hang it there people. Thank you all for your emails. Has anyone seen Hiro Nakamura? maybe he can help :-)

pd2care posted on the LPU board that Mike has posted on both the Fort Minor and Linkin Park Myspace blogs that the new album will be called "Minutes To Midnight" and it will be released on May 15. The message however is now gone (see screen cap) and no I didn't get the chance to see it so either Mike deleted it or he's messing with us, whatever it is it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer or perhaps soon for the official confirmation from the band. *crawls back to the waiting room*.

Hahninator has managed to get a full recording of Linkin Park's concert at Mountain View, Ca during their Prokekt Revolution tour in 2004, more info about the show and download links below.
Linkin Park fans....I would like to present you all...a full, lossless recording of Linkin Park at Mountain View, California on the last show of Projekt Revolution 2004 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre.
Many LP fans have spent months, even years, searching for this show. We've emailed tapers near and far, from here and there and we've had no luck. Finally, someone came through after all this time. The taper gladly told me he'd send me the show and I could seed it. We can now proudly present the only full recording of Linkin Park on Projekt Revolution 2004.
What makes this show so special you ask? There are many reasons....here are some:
This is the only show that Linkin Park played A.06 on in all of 2004. They have only performed it three times ever, and one was at this show. Also, they do their own rendition of Guns N Roses's 'Sweet Child O Mine'. This is one of the best sounding shows and one of the best performances by Chester I've ever heard in my life.
Please enjoy this newly released show. Download here, non-DIME members can download here
