Linkin Park nominated for MTV Europe Awards

LP to perform at Halo 3 launch event

Variety reports that there will be a performance by Linkin Park at the launch of Halo 3 video game.

On Monday, Spike TV's "Game Head" vidgame show will host a live feed from the "Halo 3" launch event at Best Buy's flagship store in New York City, breaking into a broadcast of James Bond actioner "GoldenEye" throughout the night. After midnight, cabler airs half-hour special "Halo 3: Launched!," featuring a performance by Linkin Park and interviews with "Halo" fans. Channel started promoting its "Halo" programming Wednesdayduring "UFC Unleashed."

Linkin Park Side Project Dead By Sunrise Julien-k Backed

Julien-K talks about his involvement in Dead By Sunrise in an interview with Artisan News and we can look forward to a Dead By Sunrise tour in 2008. Looks like it's Chester's turn to work non stop.

"He (Bennington) came in and was basically working for Julien K when this thing was kind of in its nucleus stage. He was sort of teaching me and coaching me to sing and giving me the confidence to actually be a singer because in Orgy I wasn't a lead singer. This was kind of a nebulous group of people creating and writing music and he was sort of part of that group and one day he walked in with an acoustic guitar and he goes 'Hey I want you guys to record my side project.' And Amir and I looked at each other and we were like 'That's awesome. O.K. That's a great opportunity to work with Chester, who is our favorite singer in the world."

"It turned into literally in a few days Julien K became Chester's band Dead by Sunrise so we literally stopped our record and recorded a record with Chester which is complete. Of course, the reason that didn't come out is because you have the Linkin Park record in front of it. There was a little bit of back up in timing and complications but basically Julien K is two bands. With Chester singing it's Dead by Sunrise and when I sing it's Julien K. Julien K is decidedly a bit more Electro but Dead by Sunrise a little bit heavier, a little bit more rocky and it's still got, Chester loves Electro music and he loves what we're doing."

Since Linkin Park has just released their smash breakthrough album 'Minutes to Midnight' look for the band to delay the release of Dead by Sunrises debut album until sometime in 2008. Julien K have announced a run of tour dates with Mindless Self Indulgence beginning September 5th in Minnesota and extending until September 11th in Pennsylvania. Look for Dead by Sunrise to announce tour dates in 2008 as the band tours in support of their debut album as well. Full interview

Another review of Linkin Park's performance at the VMA.

The show then hit a bit of a lull until yet another amazing performer took the stage. Linkin Park performed in the club Rain in the Palms Hotel, and what followed was possibly one of their best performances ever. Their trademark non-stop energy lit up the stage and made the fact that they were performing a brand new single irrelevant. It was a high-powered performance by a highly skilled group, and without a doubt one of the highlight acts of the 2007 Video Music Awards.

A review of Linkin Park's performance at the VMA on Sunday.

A rare head-turning moment transpired when Linkin Park performed "Bleed It Out," from its smash 2007 album, "Minutes to Midnight." The band played the song from beginning to end, with no tricks, no cutaways, no cameos from wandering fellow celebs. Vocalists Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington stole the fire of the fans screaming at their feet and threw it back out. It was basic rock 'n' roll. But within the distracting framework of the VMAs, it felt like a punch to the gut.

Linkin Park's warm up show in Las Vegas

MTV has a report on Linkin Park's warm up concert before their Hard Rock show in Las Vegas tonight. I'll post some photos later. Don't forget the MTV Video Music Awards will take place on Sunday in Las Vegas, it will air on MTV at 9 pm ET. Linkin Park is nominated for Best Group, Best Editing and Best Director. No word if any of the guys will attend. Update: MTV has added a short clip of LP performing 'One Step Closer', download here

Last night Tom DeLonge's band Angels and Airwaves put on a hot set at the Hard Rock's legendary swimming pool. Also under the stars, thousands of Linkin Park fans crammed into the hotel's outdoor venue to see the band rip through Minutes To Midnight cuts like "What I've Done," "Hands Held High" and, their best song ever, the epic "The Little Things Give You Away," a stinging epic that the band wrote in response to the nightmare that was Hurricane Katrina.

Linkin Park Plans Long-Term Support For 'Minutes'

Blabbermouth reports that Chester had told The Pulse of Radio that Linkin Park has a long-range plan to support the record.

"I think this time around we're really just gonna try to tour as much as we can on this record," he said. "We have a lot of material to work with and, you know, our sets are gonna be very diverse and things like that. So, you know, we'll take this as far as we can before, you know, we have to go back in and make another record, so I could see a good couple of years out of it, hopefully maybe a little bit more, and, you know, we'll start working on the next record during this process and just keep the ball rolling."

A review of PR show in Englewood, CO.

The odds of Linkin Park topping that were slim, and LP didn't. The group has evolved into a thoroughly professional ensemble, and they did a thoroughly professional job, churning through songs new and old with a mechanistic efficiency that was echoed by the industrial motif of its current set. Even back in the day, they never seemed truly outre, and the members don't really bother to try anymore: With the exception of Bennington, who stripped off his shirt to display his many tats, Mike Shinoda and the rest of the musicians could have passed for Dave Matthews Band sidemen.

They were extraordinarily tight, and their friendliness and accessibility was welcome for so popular an entity: Minutes to Midnight sold more copies during its first week than any other album released in 2007 to date. If only their music was more immediate, more compelling, more singular. Their hybrid theory continues to work, but at the end of "Numb," as Shinoda fingered his keyboard like a brawnier Richard Clayderman, the effect was far from gripping -- an impression that was amplified when I saw my daughters casually fiddling with their cell phones throughout the length of the song. Timberland, Jay-Z and LP hit with lawsuit

Ai..yai..yai.. Chronic magazine reports that Timbaland and Jay-Z have been hit with a lawsuit over the single "Big Pimpin" and Linkin Park and EMI Music Inc. are among the defendants named in the lawsuit.

Super-producer Timbaland and Jay-Z have been hit with a lawsuit over the single "Big Pimpin." Copyright co-owner Osama Admed Fahmy filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Federal Court, claiming that Timbaland illegally replayed portions of "Big Pimpin" note-for-note, using a melody lifted from the song "Khosara, Khosara" which was written by composer Baligh Hamdi and performed by Egyptian star Abdel-Halim Hafez in 1957. "Big Pimpin," which also features UGK, appears on Jay-Z's album Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter. Jay-Z, Timbaland, Linkin Park, EMI Music Inc. are among the defendants named in the lawsuit over the hit single, which was also mashed up on Linkin Park's song "Papercut" on the EP Collision Course.

PR Tour Review: Englewood, CO

A review of PR show in Englewood, CO.

Linkin Park has headed up Projekt Revolution tours since they began in 2002, and it has honed it into a sleek machine. This is how you fill an amphitheater, and along the way make some pretty good music as well. They prove you don't have to sell your soul to do it, with this year's lineup focused on musical ability and the desire for social change, including helping build homes for Katrina victims (through musicforrelief.org).

The production was impeccably high-tech, save for a bit of a muddy mix on the opening bands. When the big three of Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday took the stage, the sound was crisp and sharp; the high-resolution big screens on the Projekt Revolution tour were far superior to the in-house screens at Coors.

Older bands can learn from this tour. Rather than banning cameras, the bands encourage them - and sold disposable ones at $15 each if you forgot yours. Linkin Park's recorded show was available for sale, but only if you bought it right then and there - a brilliant impulse-buy strategy. At press time Linkin Park was due to close out the show, undoubtedly with more final-night tributes. Full review

Linkin Park coming to Singapore, Hong Kong & Korea

Woo!! Hoo!! Yipee! Yahooee!! my birthday present has come early! got the LPU Newsletter yesterday, Linkin Park will be performing in Singapore on my birthday, November 13 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium (thank god!) at 8 pm. Exclusive presale for LPU members starts today till September 5 and I already booked mine! woo!! hoo!! Public sales will start on September 6.

Linkin Park has also added two more new dates, they will play in Hong Kong on November 20 at the Asia World Arena, tickets will go onsale on September 6 (LPU presale starts Sept 3-5). The band will then head to Seoul, Korea where they will play at the Olympic Stadium on November 30. Tickets will go onsale on October 4. LPU presale is now available until Oct 3.

Note to headbangers, Megadeth is coming too, they will play at the Fort Canning Park on October 26, tickets for the first 700 at $85 are now onsale.

A review of PR show in Noblesville, IN

Rock, metal and rap fans filled Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville Friday to take advantage of the final day-long music festival slated for this concert season – Projekt Revolution Tour. Projekt Revolution began at 12:45 p.m., but didn't culminate until the crowd heard Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington belt the first lyrics to the band's set-opener "One Step Closer." It was then that the anticipation for the tour's headliner was released in a collective scream from the audience.

Fusing its own genre of nu metal, rock and rap, Linkin Park's high energy show was matched by the audience as they sang along word for word on each song. During the group's biggest single, "In The End," the microphones were away from the band's lips and held above the audiences as they took the turn leading the familiar chorus. "This is the loudest any crowd on the tour sang that part," Bennington informed the audience (Verizon is the third-to-last stop on the tour, which concludes Monday). "You all are the loudest crowd on the tour."

Despite releasing their third studio album earlier this year, Linkin Park kept the setlist pretty even as far as the number of songs from each record – at least six songs from each. The setlist seemed like a version of Linkin Park's greatest hits and included all the fan favorites and released singles.

Songs performed included "One Step Closer," "Lying From You," "Somewhere I Belong," "No More Sorrow," "Papercut," "Points of Authority," "Wake/Given Up," "Don't Stay," "From the Inside," "Leave Out All the Rest," "Numb," "Breaking the Habit," "Shadow of the Day," "Crawling," "In The End," "Bleed It Out" and "The Little Things Give You Away," "What I've Done" and "Faint" as the encore.

A special moment in the show was when Bennington sang "Pushing Me Away" as Mike Shinoda played solo on the piano. The stye effectively changed how the lyrics came across as Bennington's words felt more raw and emotional than if the entire band would have played the song. Full review
