Find out more about Glorious Excess (Dies) in the new episode of LPTV on LinkinPark.com (download here). Mike gives some insight into the creation of some of the pieces in the show. If you're in the Los Angeles area from August 29 - October 4, stop by the Japanese American National Museum to check out his work. The free public opening is 8 to 10pm, August 29th. Mike will be signing Glorious Excess Merchandise during that time.
We found some never before seen footage from behind the scenes of the "New Divide" video shoot laying around, and rather than throwing them in the LPU vault where they would never been seen again, we thought we would release them in two parts over two days! Check out part one here and check back tomorrow for the second installment!

Juxtapoz magazine has another interview with Mike and Dailydujour TV will have an online interview with him on Friday, Aug 28, at 4 pm PT. Mike said all merchandise from his Glorious Excess Dies show (that doesn't sell out on opening night) will be available for purchase at MikeShinoda.com starting Monday. Mark wrote in to say that he has an exclusive interview with Chester at LP Live where they talked about Dead By Sunrise and Vecel among other things, thanks Mark.

Shanghai City Weekend has a review of Linkin Park's concert in Shanghai, China last week.
Grammy Award-winning artists are rare, I can say for certain that Rob Bourdon's five-minute drum solo at the start of the encore was phenomenal and that MC/guitarist/keyboardist Mike Shinoda worked the crowd perfectly with a brief keys interlude that forcibly turned the rowdy, electrified audience into mute onlookers, before lifting the temporary ban on silence with the opening notes of 2003 Billboard Number 1 "Numb." Glorious Excess (Dies) update

The guys are now back in the US and Mike has updated his blog with what you can expect in the first show of his Glorious Excess (Dies) art show which will open at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles beginning August 29. The show is opened to the public, the reception for Glorious Excess (Dies) will take place on Saturday, August 29 from 8 to 10pm with Mike in attendance, and the show will be on view until October 4, 2009. JANM members will have a chance to have a dialogue with Mike in a special an intimate event at the museum on August 30 at 2 pm. Tickets will go on sale on-line only Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at 10:00 AM, PST, more details here.

A short review of Dead By Sunrise's 'Crawl Back In' from Overrating the Underrated
You recognise this face don't you? It's good old Chester Bennington from Linkin Park, and the long-awaited first single from his side project, Dead By Sunrise, has finally been dropped. It's a good effort too.The inevitable, lazy comparisons are going to be made with his Linkin Park material, but this definitely has a different sound to it. There are of course some similarities, but given that Chester's the lead vocalist for both groups, of course there's going to be some crossover.However, that's not necessarily a bad thing at all. Chester's vocals are awesome in Linkin Park, and similarly so here. This is however, as I said, a different style of rock music. It's difficult to place who it is they sound like. The closest I can come is maybe Three Days Grace or a less depressing Finger Eleven. It's a great track though, and definitely one of the better songs I've heard from the rock side of things in a while.

Blabbermouth reports that Linkin Park have been nominated for Inked True Colors Awards in the "Best Band/Artist" category, the event will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is to celebrate the tattoo culture and lifestyle by honoring the influencers and tastemakers of the tattoo community.

Sorry for the late update, been busy with life, anyway, Linkin Park won the Classic Songwriter award at the 2009 Kerrang Awards held in London on Monday. On winning the award Chester said, "It's always an honour to be nominated for anything. But to win it's a cool thing something entirely special. The Kerrang awards really sticks to its fans and its fanbase makes it special. Other awards shows don't have the same impact and you can tell the results beforehand, but this sort of thing is special, and different." MetalheadzFM has an audio interview with Chester backstage, download here, will upload some photos later but in the meantime Talinda has a couple of photos before the event on her Twitter page. Short article about Linkin Park's upcoming concert in Shanghai with a message from Mike to the Chinese fans, he said, "All six of us were very disappointed that we couldn't play in China last October, now we feel good, and we're ready to give a great show to a Chinese audience. We always feel very grateful for the amazing fans all over the world who support us. We just try to write music that we want to hear, and write about topics that inspire us."
