LPU9: Demos out December 3

From LP.com: Linkin Park has announced a December 3rd release date for LPU9: DEMOS, a special rarities album available with a membership to the band's fan club, the Linkin Park Underground. The album and membership package can be purchased together at www.lpunderground.com and at select Best Buy locations and includes a t-shirt, patch, and other exclusive merchandise items.

"Songs change constantly over the course of the creative process, so we thought it'd be cool to share early versions of familiar tracks," says Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda. "The versions in this collection represent important moments in the evolution of each song: different vocals, music variations, and missing parts. They're snapshots of our works-in-progress."

"The LPU is a movement," says guitarist Brad Delson. "Their support of the band is inspiring. So we try to give back to them whenever we can. When we heard that they had been talking about 'Across The Line,' we knew we had to make it available for them." Full press release

A review of Chester's performance at the Los Angeles Youth Network benefit concert last night.

Linkin Park and Dead By Sunrise mainman Chester Bennington gave "Good Times, Bad Times" a serious gusto that even Robert Plant couldn't conjure. Chester's got a classic old school rock n' roll edge and a modern sensitivity that makes him a true star. He's got one foot planted in tradition, but he's also the most forward thinking singer on the scene. He proved that during "Slither" and a raucous "Paradise City" complete with Stephen Adler behind the kit and Duff McKagan on bass. Chester definitely stood proudly even alongside Perry Farrell who did phenomenal renditions of "Mountain Song," "Sympathy for the Devil" and "Jane Says." Full review

From LP MySpace: This Thursday, Mike will join long-time friends the Deftones on stage during their benefit show for bass player Chi Leng Cheng at The Avalon in LA. The show is sold out, but you can still help. Click here to bid on items for the Chi Leng Cheng Special Needs Trust Auction. New LP album update from Mike

Mike has posted on his blog an update on the new Linkin Park album.

At last count, there were upward of 60 tracks on the "band" hard drive. Obviously, they're in all states of completion (except "finished"). Well, 60 is a big number, and focusing down on all of those to try to get them finished sounded terrifying not to mention silly; a good chunk of those are probably not really our best stuff anyway. So we narrowed down to 20. These 20 aren't all going to make the album, they're just the best songs we've got so far.

Of the 20, we're trying to focus on 5 right now, and get them finished. The work has been going exceptionally well--I think all the guys are more focused than ever. I don't know for sure, but I would bet that the average song length on these is around the 4-5 minute mark; a bit longer format than our usual stuff. We're really enjoying being in the studio right now, trying to be as creative and adventurous as we can, while letting our sense of songwriting, rhythm, and melody guide the way through the chaos.

Dead By Sunrise coming to Japan

Before Dead By Sunrise head to Taiwan they will make a stop in Japan for a live concert at Shibuya-Ax (Tokyo?) on January 28, 2010. Tickets at 6,3000 yen will go on sale on December 6 2009, show will start at 7 pm.

In an interview with MTV, Travis Barker talks about his solo album and mentions that he's going to do something with Chester on the album which is scheduled to be completed in January or February next year.

Kevin reports that according to Warner Music Taiwan, Dead By Sunrise will be in Taiwan for a concert on January 30 in 2010. They will be playing at the Huashan Culture Park at 8 pm, ticket details here. Thanks Kevin, hope Singapore is part of the asian tour [crosses fingers]
