Download photos here, I also have some some pics of Dead By Sunrise at the Ulalume festival here. I'm not uploading them at LPT at the moment, it's not completely cleaned yet. Update: Photos are now up on LPT gallery here and here.

MS: We used to be called Hybrid Theory. We settled on Lincoln Park, we went online to see if we could get our URL. We were online early on, changed the name of the band to get URL that would give the fans the most direct link to our fans.
Q: Did you ever think international? Do you think about the French version of the Linkin Park website?
MS: We're in the process of doing that right now to create an easier experience for fans in Asia and Europe..

MTV has a report on the event and has this to say about DBS show

Bennington's Dead By Sunrise followed, peppering the night with rock that was equal parts pummel and pastoral. Their set's highest point, "Crawl Back In" — the first single off the band's just-released Out Of Ashes album — was a little bit of both, mixing grungy chords and Bennington's near-patented yowl with some seriously precise drums and an ethereal backbeat.

Muse is one of my favorite bands, and they keep getting higher on my list. They may now be my favorite band of all time. They're a band that can play with anybody, and I really enjoy that.

Three updates from Mike
posted by Jas, 10/19/09 | share
Mike has posted on his blog and update on the new Linkin Park album and the LPU 9 CD.

So much random stuff going on these days...here are three updates. It's been a busy week. Studio every day, working on new stuff. This week, I did a song where the music sounds like Santogold (or Santigold, if you like) meets Postal Service meets At The Drive In or something. Very weird...but even weirder, the vocals are crazy--I asked our engineers what they thought it sounded like, and the responses I got were things like "Peter Gabriel" and "Huey Lewis, in a really good way." Four-part harmonies that ebb and flow with the track. I feel like I'm on drugs when I'm listening to it. It's tentatively called "Chicken Basket." Next week, we're all going to get together and listen to everything and vote on stuff, to see how progress is going. I'll let you guys know how it goes...

Secondly, another newsworthy thing: as it turns out, our LP Underground fan club is going to be friggin' amazing this year! In case you don't know, we always put out a CD with the club, and this year's CD is a monster. It contains 8 previously unreleased demos from Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes To Midnight, plus a NEW, UNRELEASED LINKIN PARK SONG recorded during the MTM sessions. That's 9 tracks in all (for LPU9, get it?). You also get a shirt, patch, guitar pick, and exclusive chances to meet the band if we're doing a show or event in your area. LPU9 is not available yet, but info will be coming soon. You can get an idea of what this past year's fan club offered by clicking here.

...And finally, Dead By Sunrise is out, and doing well on the charts. But more importantly, they're playing in LA soon, which means I'll get to go see the show. For those that missed it, here' DBS on Letterman.

Dead By Sunrise "Out Of Ashes" out now!
posted by Jas, 10/14/09 | share
Dead By Sunrise "Out Of Ashes" is out now, go grab a copy at Amazon or iTunes, a limited edition version of the album that's signed by the band, and comes with a free Dead By Sunrise lithograph is available at Warner Store. I must say this is a pretty darn good album, I am one happy, satisfied fan and customer. It's a must have CD for fans and a should have for non fans because it's worth it! If you don't get it on first listening, you'll be hooked on the second, I promise you!. I went to Malaysia to visit friends and family during the festive period and it's an awesome CD to listen to during the road trip.

This album takes me back to the '80s, I'm a biiiig fan of melodies and harmonies and the album is full of them, love all the songs, love the lyrics, love the guitar solos [bows to Amir and Ryan, thank you, thank you)], love, love, loooooove the ballads which in my humble opinion are the strength of the album and the standout tracks. We know what Chester can do with his voice and it's the ballads where Chester is the most honest and beautiful. We're so used to Chester's dark and angry lyrics in Linkin Park and the beautiful, sappy, sweet, tingling feeling, melt on the knees, romantic lyrics in 'Give Me Your Name' and 'In The Darkness' are a nice change to listen to, especially the latter which me and hubby now call it our new make out song ;-)

I can see fans in DBS concert jumping and rocking to 'Crawl Back In' and 'Inside Of Me', going nuts in 'My Suffering' and singing along in 'Condemned'. The synth version of 'Let Down' is okay but I still prefer the acoustic version, hope to see this performed live acoustically. You know it's a great album when you can listen to the entire CD without skipping any tracks and that's what "Out Of Ashes" is, I can't seem to pick one or two songs as my favourites because they all are and that's a good sign.

Congratulations to Chester and Dead By Sunrise, excellent job on the album, hope to see a second one in the future, in fact I demand it! :-)

"Out Of Ashes" review
posted by Jas, 10/08/09 | share
Associated Content has a nice review of Dead By Sunrise "Out Of Ashes" album.

Dead by Sunrise's album Out of the Ashes is a solid built record that chronicles the life of a former alcoholic destroying himself and somehow is saved from all the wrong that swirls around him. Bennington's side project is no Linkin Park, but shows his artistry outside of the band and if given the chance, can be a major success for him. Full review.

"Out Of Ashes" streaming on MySpace and review
posted by Jas, 10/07/09 | share
Entire "Out Of Ashes" album is now streaming on DBS MySpace page till October 10. The album will be released on October 13, it is now available for pre-order at iTunes and Amazon.com. Rocksound magazine has an interview with Chester in their November issue, they've also posted this short review of "Out Of Ashes" on their site.

Started in 06 as a side project for Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) alongside Orgy's Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck, Dead By Sunrise's debut throws down anguished alt-rock and enough crunching guitars and intense lyrics to frighten off Linkin Park comparisons. 'My Suffering' erupts into full-blown screams while 'Into You' executes haunting refrain. All the while tempered by catchy choruses that fight out against rock heavyweights like Orgy. There are faults - the opening guitar line on 'Fire' channels 'Pride (In The Name Of Love)' by U2; but this is a knowledgeable debut by a band that have collectively reaped successes in the music biz and progressed.
