Phoenix talks to KBS radio about the Download To Donate project.

"That's really a huge aspect of what was able to enable us to finish the track for Download To Donate. (Singers) Chester (Bennington) and Mike (Shinoda) were able to, you know, in the process of us working on the new record, step aside for a second and finish this track vocally. This is definitely something that we're diverting and focusing some attention to. Hopefully we can raise a lot of money and do a lot of good for the people of Haiti."

Download to Donate tracks review
posted by Jas, 01/24/2010 | share
A short review of some of the tracks from the Download to Donate for Haiti compilation.

Linkin Park: Not Alone, a ballad about "giving up your home" and "the hell that you've been through", packs serious punch, and Chester Bennington's archangelic vocal proves to be the rap-rock hybrid's top weapon.
Slash: With guest vocalist Beth Hart doing a sneery Lady Axl impression, Mother Maria has a breezy, bluesy base and a wicked guitar underbelly. If you think the former GN'R axe grinder is going to end things without a slithery solo …
Peter Gabriel: Slowed to a dirgelike pace, but with slow-building orchestral strength, Gabriel's cover of David Bowie's Heroes is magnificent and devastating.

Rolling Stone magazine reports that Cypress Hill's new CD "Rise Up" will be released on April 6, it contains collaboration with Slash and Mike Shinoda. The Bleacher Report thinks Linkin Park is one of the five bands that should perform at the super bowl half time and the music director of WJSE-FM 102.7 says Linkin Park are one of the stars of tomorrow who are likely to have staying power.

"Only one band stands out for me that will continue to 'rock' for the next 10 years, Linkin Park... They are a band that understands putting out an album is a huge undertaking and instead of throwing one out every year, they release quality albums after years of work. The phrase is quality, not quantity, and Linkin Park understand that statement."

Sorry for the late update, got hit by the flu bug after my vacay so I'm catching up on things,

New LP.com: If you're an LPU member you'll receive an email invitation to an exclusive Beta preview of a new official site at LinkinPark.com, it's like facebook, blog and youtube all roll into one, it's pretty cool I love it!

New LP song: Mike said we will get a new Linkin Park song when the new Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion game is released on iPhone and iPod touch soon.

New LP album update: The band had their first studio meeting last week listening to five songs and picking songs for the second batch. Mike said the album is, "not a "concept album" per se but it definitely has some thematic threads tying it together." There's also a video clip of Brad in the studio and read Mike's own decade list, his top five most underrated (but importantly) things that happened to Linkin Park in the past ten years.

The Crunchies Awards: Mike presented the Best New Gadget award at the 2009 Crunchies Awards on Friday, download video clip here. Thanks to Siby for the link.

Interview with Chester: The West Australian has an interview with Chester where he talked about Dead By Sunrise, more DBS records in the future woo! hoo!!

"We've created our own sound with its own identity," Bennington says. "We'll be making more Dead by Sunrise records for sure. "How fast we'll turn those around I don't know. Linkin Park are always No.1 so I'm forced … not forced, I am at the whim of whatever Linkin Park are doing at the time. But Dead by Sunrise are something I care about and want to do for as long as I can." Full interview.
